S&C Electric Releases New Wind Farm Monitoring Tech

S&C Electric Co.
has introduced new asset monitoring services for electric grid equipment used on wind farms.
These services include PureWave CBM, condition-based monitoring for S&C's PureWave line of products. In addition, S&C has introduced asset monitoring services for S&C automation and communications products, as well as power transformers.
S&C uses pre-installed or deployed sensors to gather real-time condition information on critical equipment, and monitors this equipment 24 hours a day at the company’s Global Support & Monitoring Center. In the event conditions fall outside normal parameters, an alert is sent to the technical experts on duty, who will then work with the asset owner to resolve the issue.
"At renewable energy plants, asset monitoring is an important first step in a proactive asset management strategy,” explains Dan Girard, S&C’s renewable energy director. “By properly maintaining the equipment that connects plants to the grid, owners of wind farms and solar energy plants can maximize production and reduce the risk of costly disruptions to plant operations."
