Mitsubishi Power Systems Americas Inc. (MPS), a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Japan, has been awarded a contract to supply up to 398 MW of wind turbine capacity to Irvine, Calif.-based Edison Mission Group (EMG).

The contract calls for 166 Mitsubishi MWT95 2.4 MW turbines to be delivered in 2008 and 2009. According to the companies, the order follows EMG's purchase of Mitsubishi's turbines in 2005 totaling 120 MW for its San Juan Mesa project in New Mexico and an order of 80 MW of turbines in 2006 for a new project anticipated in Texas.

"We are pleased that EMG has the confidence in our wind generation technologies, systems and track record for customer fulfillment to make this large commitment, which doubles our prior contracts with EMG," says Bob Rugh, vice president of MPS' wind products turbine group.
