FPL Energy, a renewable energy project developer based in Juno Beach, Fla., has finalized plans to build a 48 MW Oliver II Wind Energy Center in North Dakota.

According to the company, the Oliver II wind farm will be located adjacent to the 50.6 MW Oliver Wind I Energy Center, which was commissioned in December of 2006. Once complete, the combined wind farms will have a capacity of nearly 100 MW of energy, which will generate enough electricity to power 30,000 homes per year.

Under a long-term power purchase contract, Minnesota Power has agreed to purchase all of the electricity generated from the Oliver II wind farm. (See "Minnesota Power Will Purchase Power From Proposed Wind Farm.")

Construction will begin in the spring and is expected to be complete by Jan. 1, 2008, FPL Energy adds.
