Siemens Energy has partnered with San Mateo, Calif.-based eMeter, a provider of smart-grid management software, to introduce three Global Centers of Competence dedicated to supporting the growing demand for smart-energy services.

Designed to facilitate the transition from the existing infrastructure to an advanced smart grid, the centers will provide new and existing customers with the expertise to understand, deploy and extract maximum value from their smart-grid investment. The centers will be located in Houston; Vienna, Austria; and Nottingham, England.

"Forming the very foundation of the smart grid, meter data management enables utilities to effectively manage the enormous amounts of data that will become available with the mass deployment of smart meters," says Ron Jarvis of Siemens Energy. Each center is staffed with industry experts from Siemens and eMeter, providing customers with personalized guidance to design, deploy and operate their smart-grid initiatives and meet business goals.

Utilizing best-practice implementation technologies, products and business process automation techniques, the centers will provide complete smart service solutions to international customers.
