NAW staff, Tuesday 12 August 2008 - 10:45:13

EDF Energies Nouvelles has signed an agreement with Clipper Turbine Works, a subsidiary of U.S. manufacturer Clipper Windpower, to supply 27 wind turbines - each with 2.5 MW in capacity - to build the first tranche of the La Ventosa wind farm in Mexico.

This order will help EDF with its plans to build the 67.5 MW wind farm in Oaxaca, Mexico. Construction is due to be completed by the end of 2009. The electricity generated will supply several Wal-Mart stores under a power-purchase agreement that has already been signed.

EDF Energies Nouvelles' U.S. subsidiary, enXco, will provide supervision of the construction activities, as well as be in charge of the operation and maintenance of the project.
