Outland Renewable Energy LLC, a Chaska, Minn.-based developer, owner and operator of renewable energy projects, has committed $120,000 to Central Montana Renewable Energy LLC, a new private company managed by a board of governors made up of local investors and representatives of Outland.

Central Montana Renewable Energy was formed to develop one or more local utility-scale wind farms in Park, Meagher, Gallatin and Sweet Grass counties, Mont. According to Outland, members of Central Montana Renewable Energy believe that they can develop multiple sites in the four-county area - ultimately developing 400 to 500 MW at various locations over the next five to 10 years. The initial project will focus on a wind project in Western Park County, where discussions with area landowners are underway.

Outland's ultimate goal is to raise approximately $750,000 from area residents over time to support this private development effort, the company says. Preliminary wind analyses rate the wind regime in this area in the top 2% of developable property in the country today, Outland adds. The company anticipates being ready to begin development as early as fall 2007.
