Brande, Denmark-headquartered Siemens Power Generation recently received a contract for 140 wind turbines from Scottish Power PLC, an international energy company based in the U.K., for approximately 350 million euros.

In addition to supplying the 2.3 MW turbines, Siemens will deliver, install, and provide service and maintenance on the turbines. They will be utilized by the Whitelee Wind Farm, which will be located south of Glasgow in Scotland. The installed capacity of 322 MW will be sufficient to supply electricity to about 200,000 households in Scotland, the companies add.

The Whitelee Wind Farm project is the largest wind farm to date contracted by Siemens Power Generation. Completion of the project is scheduled for summer 2009.
