Minnesota-based Outland Renewable Energy LLC has announced the appointment of Brent Bergland as the director of engineering and construction. Bergland will oversee all aspects of construction to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and on budget. He will also work with Outland's leadership on project budgets as well as contractor negotiations and management.

"Brent is a crucial hire for us as we head into a year of fast-paced growth and vertical integration," says Steve Scott, chief operating officer at Outland. "Brent will play a key role as we move forward with our wind projects, our agreements with wind-turbine manufacturers, our recent grant from Xcel Energy and our development of a privately funded transmission line," says Steve Scott, chief operating officer at Outland.

Bergland brings established industry-wide relationships with wind power project developers, engineering consultants, subcontractors and suppliers. He also has critical experience working with a wide variety of wind turbine manufacturers, such as Vestas, Siemens, GE, Clipper, and Mitsubishi.

In his most recent position as the director of business development, Bergland led Mortenson Construction's market and customer strategic positioning for their wind power engineering, procurement and construction business.
