Alstom has signed a contract with CPFL Renovaveis to deliver, erect and commission 19 ECO 122 wind turbines at the Pedra Cheirosa wind complex, located in Ceara, Brazil.

The wind complex will generate 50 MW, and the ECO 122 turbines will be produced at Alstom's regional manufacturing unit in Camacari. Alstom says the contract, the company's first with CPFL Renovaveis, was signed in the framework of the last A-5 auction system in Brazil, which is related to projects that have to operate in the coming five years. Alstom expects the turbines to be ready for commercial operation in December 2017.

“Brazil is continuing to take advantage of its tremendous wind energy potential. The partnership with CPFL Renovaveis is a confirmation of our local strategy, which is to improve the use of renewable sources, develop sustainable projects and focus on creating jobs,” says Yves Rannou, senior vice president of Alstom’s wind business.
