Two months after the completion of installation, the first GE 2.5-120 wind turbine has been put into commercial operation in Schnaittenbach, a town in Bavaria, Germany.

Max Bogl Wiesner GmbH is the project's investor and operator. According to GE, the turbine's advanced controls, paired with the 120-meter rotor and a hybrid tower with a hub height of 139 meters, allow for a more efficient energy output and make the turbine well suited for low-wind conditions. GE says the 2.5-120 its first “brilliant” wind turbine to utilize the power of the Industrial Internet.
