Vestas has received an order for 24 V100-2.6 MW wind turbines from Nuova Energia S.r.l., a special purpose company of FRI-EL Green Power S.p.A. (FRI-EL), for the Gravina-Poggiorsini wind power project in Puglia, Italy.

The contract includes supply, installation and commissioning of the wind turbines, a VestasOnline Business SCADA system, and a five-year service and maintenance agreement. The wind turbines are scheduled to be delivered in the third quarter and to be commissioned by the end of the year.

“The third contract that we signed under the newly introduced auction system is another step in the long and successful journey Vestas began in Italy in 1998, which has resulted in more than 3 GW of wind capacity installed in the country,” says Rainer Karan, general manager of Vestas Italia. “Through our long-standing partnership with FRI-EL that dates back to 2001, we are committed to further develop the wind energy sector in the country.”
