Enel Green Power has announced the completion of the 90 MW Talinay wind project, the company's first wind farm in Chile.

The new plant, designed and developed by Danish company Vestas, comprises 45 2-MW Vestas wind turbines, and construction of the project required about $165 million.

With the start-up of operations at Talinay, Enel Green Power says it has strengthened its presence in the Chilean renewable energy market by expanding its installed capacity to 182 MW.

The company is currently in the process of constructing a 90 MW wind farm in Valle de los Vientos, in region II of Antofagasta. Once completed, this wind farm will bring Enel Green Power’s installed capacity in Chile to 272 MW.

“This first wind farm represents one more step forward in our growth strategy in Chile, a country blessed by a huge potential in the renewable energy sector,” says Francesco Starace, CEO of Enel Green Power. “Once the Valle de los Vientos wind farm will be completed, we will have tripled our initial installed capacity, thereby significantly consolidating our footprint in this country.”
