Citing low demand, Langhorne, Pa.-based turbine maker Gamesa has announced it is laying off 165 workers at its nacelle and blade manufacturing facilities.

According to Gamesa, the company has issued furloughs to 92 employees at its Fairless Hills, Pa.-based nacelle plant and 73 workers at its Ebensburg, Pa.-based blade facility.

David Rosenberg, Gamesa's vice president for marketing in the U.S., says the furloughs are temporary, lasting for 10 weeks from early September, when they are set to begin. He adds that Gamesa considers the U.S. a strategic market and remains firmly committed to the industry.
