The Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is seeking public comments on the recently released draft environmental impact statement (EIS) regarding the proposed Montana Alberta Tie transmission line.

Montana Alberta Tie Ltd. of Calgary, Alberta, has submitted an application to the DEQ to construct, operate and maintain a 230 kV transmission line between Lethbridge, Alberta, and Great Falls, Montana. The 130-mile line would extend from the Montana-Alberta border northeast of Cut Bank to an existing substation just north of Rainbow Dam near Great Falls, DEQ says.

The EIS may be viewed at deq.mt.gov, where comments can also be sent. The DEQ is accepting comments until April 9.
