ACCIONA has inaugurated the western Oklahoma-based Red Hills Wind Farm, a 123 MW facility equipped with 82 wind turbines.

The wind farm is located in Roger Mills and Custer counties, and its power will be supplied to the Western Farmers Electric Cooperative (WFEC) under a long-term supply agreement. WFEC supplies electricity to 19 associates representing approximately two-thirds of the rural surface area of Oklahoma. The cooperative also supplies power to the Altus U.S. Air Force base.

ACCIONA also has a wind turbine production plant in the state of Iowa, which will supply a significant part of the 82 AW-1500 turbines (1.5 MW each) installed in the Red Hills project.

The opening ceremony of the Red Hills wind farm was attended by a number of state and local authorities, together with a large community representation from Roger Mills and Custer counties.
