Good Energies, a global investor in the renewable energy and energy efficiency industry, has appointed George Coelho managing director and head of venture capital. Coelho will also be responsible for the European solar team.
Coelho joins Good Energies from Balderton Capital, formerly known as Benchmark Capital Europe, which he co-founded in 2000. The fund has actively invested in technology and clean-tech companies in all development stages in both Europe and North America.
"We look forward to benefiting from George Coelho's in-depth knowledge in the field of semiconductors and long-running experience in clean-tech and technology investing on a highly professional level," says Richard Kauffman, CEO of Good Energies. "His international experience, proven record of success and overall business acumen will complement our existing capabilities and team very well."
Before founding Benchmark Capital, Europe, Coelho led Intel Corp.'s strategic venture capital investment activities outside the U.S.
George Coelho holds a bachelor’s degree from American University and a master’s degree from George Washington University.
