Coldwater Creek, a Sandpoint, Idaho-based women's apparel retailer, has recently committed to purchase renewable energy for its headquarters, distribution center, customer contact centers and retail stores across the country.

Over the next three years, Coldwater Creek will buy more than 217,000 MWh of wind-generated electricity through a partnership with 3 Phases Energy Services LLC, the companies say. The purchase of renewable energy certificates will offset the energy usage of its operation company-wide with 100% new wind energy.

"We're extremely proud to join other industry leaders in taking this meaningful step forward by offsetting our total energy consumption with wind power," says Dennis Pence, Coldwater Creek's founder, chairman and chief executive officer.

According to the company, by supporting wind power it will prevent more than 299 million pounds of carbon dioxide from entering the Earth's atmosphere between now and 2009.
