The Canadian GeoExchange Coalition (CGC), the Canadian Hydropower Association (CHA), the Canadian Solar Industries Association (CanSIA), and the Canadian Wind Energy Association (CanWEA) have announced the creation of the Canadian Renewable Energy Industry Network (CREIN).

According to the associations, CREIN's mission is to promote the sustainable development of renewable sources of energy for the benefit of all Canadians, and CREIN members will work together to advocate for a much greater role for renewable energy in the federal government's response to air pollution and climate change.

The federal government is now consulting on the details of its Regulatory Framework for Air Emissions, the CREIN associations add. During this process, CREIN is seeking to ensure that renewable energies be allowed to participate in any future emissions trading systems through the creation of offsets, that any technology fund support the deployment of renewable energies, and that past efforts to deploy renewable energies are recognized and credited.
