Calgary, Alberta-headquartered Phoenix Engineering Inc. recently completed a resource assessment for Halifax, Nova Scotia-based Shear Wind Inc.'s proposed wind farms.

According to Shear Wind, Phoenix Engineering collected data from three monitoring towers and a local Environment Canada tower in Nova Scotia. If 50 2 MW turbines were installed at 80 feet at the site, the long-term wind power yield at the farm would exceed 400 GWh per year for 30 years, Shear Wind says.

"With these wind test results, Shear Wind will have numerous large-scale projects ready to bid on the Nova Scotia Power Renewable Energy RFP for August 2007," says Mike Magnus, Shear Wind's president and chief executive officer.

Shear Wind adds that its proposed Nova Scotia projects will be adjacent to existing 2 kV x 235 kV lines as well as a 138 kV line - all of which are validated Nova Scotia Power interconnections.
