NaiKun Wind Development Inc., a Vancouver, British Columbia-based renewable energy project developer, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Siemens Power Transmission & Distribution to complete a commercial agreement regarding the development, construction and operation of the transmission system for the first 320 MW of NaiKun's proposed offshore wind farm in the Hecate Strait.

Under the terms of the MOU, NaiKun and Siemens will collaborate on the necessary studies, analyses and commercial development aspects required to deliver the optimal power transmission structure for the wind farm project. Upon the successful completion of the commercial agreement, Siemens would become the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) partner for NaiKun's electrical infrastructure system, the companies say.

"Siemens is an acknowledged world leader in the field of power transmission and distribution, and the fact they have agreed to collaborate with us is a major step forward for NaiKun," says Ray Castelli, president and chief executive officer of NaiKun.
