The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) will hold four additional public meetings for the two draft National Interest Electric Transmission Corridors (NIETC) during the 60-day public comment period, which closes on July 6. The four additional meetings will be held in June in Phoenix; Las Vegas; Pittsburgh, Penn.; and Rochester, N.Y.

The DOE issued two draft NIETC designations in late April for areas in which consumers are adversely affected by transmission capacity constraints or congestion. The proposed Mid-Atlantic Area NIETC includes counties in Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland and Virginia, and all of New Jersey, Delaware and the District of Columbia. The proposed Southwest Area NIETC includes counties in California, Arizona and Nevada.
