The California Independent System Operator Corp. (California ISO), a nonprofit public corporation charged with managing the flow of electricity along California's wholesale power grid, has appointed Nancy Saracino vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary.

Saracino, who will begin her new role at the end of May, is currently chief deputy director of the California Department of Water Resources, where she implements policies for the protection, conservation and management of the state's water supply. She is also a steering committee member for the California Sustainability Alliance.

"Nancy is committed to California's energy future," says Yakout Mansour, California ISO's president and chief executive officer. "She is equally dedicated to meeting the new environmental challenges that lie ahead, blending climate change policies with the operation of the power grid."
