North American Windpower: enXco Secures Wind Turbines For Shiloh II Wind Farm

enXco Inc., a wind farm developer and operator based in Escondido, Calif., has purchased an additional 75 2 MW wind turbines from REpower Systems AG, a Germany-headquartered wind turbine manufacturer.

The turbines are destined for the Shiloh II wind farm located approximately 140 km northeast of San Francisco. According to the companies, 19 of the 75 turbines arise from an option arrangement with REpower that was negotiated in 2006. The delivery of the 2 MW turbines, which have a rotor diameter of 92 meters, is scheduled to begin mid-2008.

"Turbine availability during the period of the PTC [production tax credit] extension is critical to enXco's current and future success, and we are pleased that enXco can continue to move forward with its ambitious development plan thanks to our ability to secure turbines," says Tristan Grimbert, enXco's president and chief operating officer.
