DeWind Inc., a subsidiary of Composite Technology Corp. (CTC), has received an order from XRG Development Partners LLC for the delivery and service of 18 2 MW D8.2 wind turbines. The turbines are scheduled for delivery toward the end of this year to XRG's project site in Minnesota, the companies say.

"This will be the first wind farm to use our D8.2 equipped with the Voith WinDrive, which allows high-voltage power to be sent directly to the grid without the necessity for power conversion electronics," says Michael Porter, president of DeWind and CTC. "The turbines will be manufactured at the TECO Westinghouse facility in Texas."

According to the companies, this is the initial order for a long-term relationship for up to 750 turbines over the next five years.
