The Cooperatives Regroupees en Energie Renouvelable du Quebec (CRERQ), a cooperative that sells AWE 900 wind turbines to industry and communities in Quebec, and Americas Wind Energy Inc. (AWEI), a Toronto-based subsidiary of Americas Wind Energy Corp. (AWEC) - which manufactures 900 kW turbines - have signed a supply agreement.

Under the terms of the agreement, CRERQ will form another cooperative, named EKUA, and supply AWEI's turbines to the Canadian and U.S. markets. According to the companies, this arrangement is expected to save both AWEC and AWEI money because of reduced transportation costs and government support available to Quebec manufacturers.

AWEC has been advised that CRERQ plans to order four wind turbines very soon, and that CRERQ expects to place orders with AWEI for 20 wind turbines in the following year.
