Heartland Consumers Power District, a Madison, South Dakota-based power utility, and Babcock & Brown, a global investment and advisory firm, have signed a power purchase agreement for a Jerauld County, S.D., wind farm.

Wessington Wind I LLC, an affiliate of Babcock & Brown, will construct, own and operate the 51 MW capacity project that will be located near Wessington Springs in Jerauld County. It is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2008 and will supply wind power to the Western Area Power Administration transmission grid, Babcock & Brown adds.
