The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD), Sacramento, Calif., will release a request for offers (RFO) in May for renewable energy projects.

According to SMUD, the utility will issue an RFO to establish power purchase agreements and ownership options to meet its renewable portfolio standard goals. SMUD has an annual incremental renewable energy goal and a specific target to meet 23% of its retail electricity sales with renewables by 2011 and beyond, the utility says.

SMUD will consider renewable projects in California, including wind, geothermal, small hydroelectric, landfill gas, biomass and biodiesel, photovoltaic, solar thermal and ocean thermal. For more information, visit bids.smud.org or contact Cesar Beltran at (916) 732-6925.
