The New Mexico House of Representatives recently passed the Renewable Energy Transmission Authority Act (H.B.188) to promote the generation and transmission of renewable energy in the state. According to Gov. Bill Richardson, D-N.M., who supports the bill, it will help develop New Mexico's electric infrastructure, planning, financing and implementation of clean energy.

"This bill will help ranchers diversify into the burgeoning wind energy market and make New Mexico the clean energy state," says Richardson. "House passage of this legislation is a major milestone in enacting my clean energy agenda."

The bill now moves to the Senate, where it will be heard in the Judiciary and Finance Committees.
