Trinity To Establish Wind Turbine Tower Facility In Illinois

Illinois Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich has announced a nearly $2 million business investment package for Fort Worth, Texas-based Trinity Structural Towers Inc., a manufacturer of structural wind towers, to help the company establish a tower manufacturing facility in the state. The company will renovate and expand a company-owned industrial facility in Clinton, Ill., through a $15 million private investment, which will create 140 jobs within two years.

Last summer, Gov. Blagojevich announced his comprehensive Energy Independence Plan to reduce the state's dependence on imported energy, create next-generation clean energy jobs and bring significant private investment to Illinois. One element of the governor's plan is support for a renewable portfolio standard - a requirement that 10% of the state's electric supply must come from renewable energy sources by 2015. The Governor is expected to propose legislation to implement his plan in the near future.
