Independent Power Corp. (ICP), an Ontario-based wind turbine supplier and installer, has signed an agreement with WPD International, a Germany-based wind project developer, to build 10 MW wind farms in Ontario under the standard offer program (SOP).

Ontario's SOP makes it easier for renewable energy operators to participate in the province's electricity supply system and be paid for the power they provide. It was designed to promote the construction of renewable energy projects. Developers must go through a series of phases to apply for a contract under the plan - wind farms up to 10 MW are eligible to participate.

According to ICP, the company specializes in SOP contracts and has over 250 MW of projects underway.
