Washington state's Port of Longview has agreed to ship towers, turbines, blades and other components for Siemens Power Generation, a manufacturer of turbines for the renewable energy market, including wind.

The parts will be used to build two wind farms in the Northwest - 44 turbines will be used for the Klondike Phase III Wind Farm in Sherman County, Ore., and 89 will go to the White Creek project in Klickitat County. This agreement represents the port's first all-inclusive wind energy contract, the company says.

According to Marie Wise, the Port of Longview's communications and public affairs manager, the company has already started receiving parts, which will leave the port in the first quarter of 2007.
