North American Windpower: Suzlon Starts U.S. Blade And Nose Cone Manufacturing

Suzlon Rotor Corp. (SRC), a subsidiary of Suzlon Energy Ltd., has begun wind turbine blade and nose cone production at its Pipestone, Minn., manufacturing facility.

According to Suzlon, the new 36-acre facility that totals 230,000 square feet will target the North American market. The plant is equipped with three wind turbine blade mould lines.

"The production of this first wind turbine blade is monumental for Suzlon, as we strengthen our presence in the U.S. wind power market and take an important step towards investing in this region," says JR Tanti, director of Suzlon Infrastructure Ltd., a subsidiary of Suzlon Energy.

The company adds that the project created more than 200 construction jobs and, when operating at its full capacity, will employ up to 275 people.
