Conergy AG, a renewable energy supplier headquartered in Germany, has agreed to locate the North American headquarters of its renewable energy project development and financing subsidiary, Voltwerk, and the East Coast operations of its solar engineering and installation arm, SunTechnics, in Pennsylvania.

According to Conergy, the company is looking to expand its operations in the U.S. market, and chose Pennsylvania because of its high energy capacity.

"The renewable energy market in the U.S. is growing rapidly, and Pennsylvania is taking a leadership role," says Mac Moore, regional head for Conergy in North America. "With the state's forward-thinking policies, we see tremendous potential to develop renewable energy projects and are very pleased to become a part of Pennsylvania's business community."

According to Conergy, the company plans to develop a variety of renewable energy projects on the East Coast with this expansion, including solar, wind and bio-energy. Moore adds that Voltwerk is currently involved in a number of large wind projects and, over time, will look for opportunities to develop wind projects in the region.
