North American Windpower: RES-Americas and Horizon Wind Energy Form Another Partnership

Horizon Wind Energy, a Houston-headquartered wind farm developer and owner, has purchased the second 200 MW phase (Post Oak) of the Lone Star Wind Farm from Austin, Texas-based Renewable Energy Systems Americas (RES-Americas), a subsidiary of the RES Group.

The Post Oak project, located in Callahan and Shackelford counties in Texas, has been under development by RES since 2002. It is located adjacent to the first phase of the Lone Star Wind Farm, which is currently being constructed by RES-Americas for Horizon Wind Energy. The Post Oak project will utilize 100 2 MW Gamesa wind turbine generators, the companies add.

"The sale of an additional 200 MW completes a transaction contemplated in January 2006, when Horizon acquired the first phase of the Lone Star Wind Farm from RES-Americas," says Craig Mataczynski, RES Americas' president.

After receiving notice to proceed on this phase of the project, RES-Americas says it now has 1,076 MW of wind farms under construction in the U.S. Horizon's purchase of the project will bring its expected net MW ownership to over 1,300 MW by the end of 2007.
