Gamesa has concluded turnkey construction of its first wind project in Chile, the 36 MW San Pedro Chiloe wind farm, for local company Transantartic.

The wind farm features 18 Gamesa G90-2.0 MW wind turbines. Construction for the project began in January 2013 and included the development of all necessary civil works and infrastructure for the project, including more than 20 km of roadway, an electrical substation, a 25 km high-voltage transmission line and a bridge. Gamesa will also provide operations and maintenance services for 12 years.

Gamesa notes that Latin America represents a strong market for the company, which, in addition to Chile, is present in Mexico, Honduras, Argentina, Uruguay and Costa Rica. The company says it has installed more than 2 GW of turbines throughout the region, and Latin America accounted for 36% of its 2014 first semester revenue.
