The North American Development Bank (NADB) has begun disbursing loans totaling $140 million for the construction of two 126 MW Mexican wind farms.

The wind projects, Ventika and Ventika II, will be built in the municipality of General Bravo, Nuevo Leon, approximately 100 miles east of Monterrey. Other investors include Cemex and Fisterra Energy, a private equity fund owned by the Blackstone Group.

Acciona Energy recently announced that it will supply wind turbines to the projects, serve as engineering, procurement and construction contractor, and provide operations and maintenance for 20 years. Construction is slated to begin in the second quarter of this year, and commercial operation is expected by the second quarter of 2016.

To date, NADB says it has provided $521.0 million in loan financing for six wind projects in California, Texas, Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon totaling 973 MW.
