Minneapolis-headquartered Xcel Energy has added two more wind farm projects near Peetz, Colo., to its portfolio that will produce 200 MW of electricity - Peetz Table and Logan Wind Energy.

According to the company, Peetz Table will be built by FPL Energy, a clean energy provider headquarted in Juno Beach, Fla., while Logan Wind Energy will be built by Chicago-based Invenergy, a developer, owner and operator of large-scale electricity generation assets in the North American and European energy markets. Together with the two new wind farms, and two previously announced wind farms (the 75 MW Lamar Twin Butte and 300 MW Green Light Energy), 775 MW of wind energy will be added before the end of 2007.

The new projects will make Xcel closer to its requirement to acquire 10% of its electric sales from renewable sources such as wind, sun, or plant and animal waste through 2015, according to a mandate from a November 2004 vote. Xcel already has 282 MW of wind power in its system.
