In partnership with the Cooperatives Regroupees en Energie Renouvelable du Quebec (CRERQ), Toronto-based Americas Wind Energy Corp. (AWEC) has submitted to Hydro Quebec plans for a proposed wind farm in Cap Chat, Quebec.

The project would use eight AWE 900 kW wind turbines, AWEC says, and all major turbine components, including nacelles, rotors, generators, blades and towers, would likely be manufactured in Quebec.

CRERQ is a cooperative that was established in partnership with a related cooperative, EKUA, to sell and install AWE 900 kW wind turbines to industry and rural communities in Quebec. AWEC adds that the technological advantage of its direct-drive wind turbines has gained support in Quebec from its partners CRERQ and EKUA.
