Gamesa says its G128-5.0 MW prototype offshore turbine, located in the Canary Islands region, has marked record-high power generation for wind turbines in Spain.

On Nov. 2, Gamesa says the turbine produced 118.05 MWh of electricity, surpassing the previous record of 107.82 MWh, which the company's G128-4.5 MW turbine had set.

The G128-5.0 MW prototype started to operate in July; since then, Gamesa says it has generated over 2 GWh of electricity. It is the first offshore turbine installed in Spain.
