Michigan-based utility Consumers Energy says it is on track to meet the state's 10% by 2015 renewable portfolio standard, thanks to investments in resources such as wind and solar.

In its first-ever Accountability Report, the company provides a quick overview of its role in Michigan, including highlights like corporate citizenship and renewable energy efforts.

In the report, Consumers Energy says it is spending $7 billion on renewable energy, environmental quality, energy efficiency, energy reliability and natural gas and electric infrastructure from 2013 to 2017. The report also notes a $235 million investment in the utility's 100 MW Lake Winds Energy Park, a completed project located in Mason County. Overall, the company says renewables make up 8% of the utility’s energy portfolio thus far.
