Nordex USA Inc. has secured a 45.6 MW order from Exelon Wind LLC for the next phase of the Beebe Community Wind Project, located in Gratiot County, Mich.

Under the contract, Nordex will supply 19 more of its N117/2400 turbines; the first phase of the wind farm, which has a capacity of 81.6 MW and was completed in December 2012, features 34 of the machines. The company says the 2.4 MW turbines are on 91-meter towers and specifically designed for low-wind sites.

Turbine deliveries for the expansion phase are expected to begin in May 2014. Nordex will be responsible for delivery, commissioning and testing of the turbines and will provide ongoing maintenance under a 20-year contract. Project completion and commercial operation are planned for late 2014.
