The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recognized Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) as an EPA Green Power Partner. With its purchase of more than 12 million kWh of power - 100% of the school's annual electrical usage over the next 15 years - SNHU has become the first New Hampshire-based university in EPA's Green Power Partnership, the university says.

SNHU is purchasing its renewable energy certificates from PPM Energy Inc., which has a project portfolio that includes wind, solar, geothermal and other renewable sources. Additionally, SNHU currently ranks first in the Northeast 10 conference of the 2007-2008 EPA Green Power College & University Green Power Challenge, which tracks and recognizes the collegiate athletic conferences with the highest combined green power purchases in the nation.
