Tom Amis and Nik Patel have both joined the Washington, D.C., office of Alston & Bird LLP as partners in the firm's leveraged capital group. Both Amis and Patel were previously with the Washington, D.C., office of Baker Botts LLP.

In his new role, Amis will serve as co-chair of the firm's renewable energy team, a multi-disciplinary group. Before joining Baker Botts, Amis served as senior commercial counsel at the Overseas Private Investment Corp.

Patel brings with him experience representing sponsors and lenders in project transactions in several industries, including oil, gas and education. He has counseled companies in connection with development activities, stock and asset mergers and acquisitions, and more.

"Tom and Nik have handled the development and financing of some of the largest and most complex project finance deals - both domestically and internationally," says Ben Johnson, Alston & Bird's managing partner, adding that he is looking forward to working with them.
