PSE's Wild Horse Wind And Solar Facility Reopens To Public

The Renewable Energy Center at Puget Sound Energy's (PSE) Wild Horse Wind and Solar Facility will reopen for visitors on April 1.

Visitors to the facility learn about renewable energy from the center's informational displays, as well as from guided hikes past operating wind turbines and one of Washington's largest solar power installations.

The visitor center will be open seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., through November (weather permitting). Free guided tours of PSE’s 273 MW renewable energy operation occur daily at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., with no reservation required. Free tours and presentations for private groups, including school classes and tour-bus groups, also can be scheduled.

The Renewable Energy Center opened in 2008, and PSE expects it will host its 100,000th visitor to the facility this spring. Completed in 2006 and expanded in 2009, the Wild Horse Wind and Solar Facility contains 149 wind turbines and 2,723 solar panels that together generate enough electricity to power about 70,000 households, according to PSE.
