U.S., Australia Form Clean Energy Partnership

| The American Council On Renewable Energy (ACORE) and the Clean Energy Council (CEC) of Australia have formed a partnership intended to enrich both organizations' missions of advancing clean energy deployment in the U.S. and Australia. The partnership aims to build a collaborative platform that enables clean energy industry experts and stakeholders from both the U.S. and Australia to share expertise in creating successful policies, finance mechanisms and market drivers that will benefit both the Australian and U.S. markets. "As countries develop more sustainable energy to power the world economy, international cooperation on renewable energy is vitally important," says Dennis McGinn, president and CEO of ACORE. “Considering the growing success of clean energy in both the United States and Australia, our nations will greatly benefit from a strong collaboration on how to improve the policies and finance mechanisms that bring sustainable energy technologies to scale." Driven by supportive government policies and innovation, renewable energy investment continues to grow in Australia, and 2012 was marked by a 40% increase in investment, to $6.2 billion. During the past four years, the U.S. renewable energy industry has also experienced tremendous success, as renewable energy generating capacity nearly doubled, from 43.5 GW in 2009 to 85.7 GW in 2012, as a result of innovative policy and finance strategies. |
