Suzlon Group says it installed 1.177 GW of wind energy capacity in North America last year - a company record. With those installations, which represent approximately 570 wind turbines, Suzlon now has a total of 4.373 GW of wind energy capacity installed in North America.

Suzlon and its subsidiary REpower installed 193 turbines in Canada and 379 turbines in the U.S. last year. Suzlon employs over 500 people in North America and has installations across 22 U.S. states and three Canadian provinces.

Suzlon and REpower turbines were featured in several projects that entered operation in North America in 2012, including the following:

  • The Canadian Hills Wind project, which is located just outside Oklahoma City, is owned by Atlantic Power and comprises 73 REpower MM92 2.05 MW turbines; and
  • The Meadow Creek Wind Farm, which is located outside Idaho Falls, Idaho; is owned by Ridgeline Energy (a subsidiary of Atlantic Power); and features 57 Suzlon S97-2.1 MW turbines.
