Sky Harvest Windpower Corp. has signed a letter of intent for research and development of wind power on over 15,000 acres of Crown agricultural land in southern Saskatchewan.

Vancouver, British Columbia-based Keewatin Windpower Corp, which signed an agreement in March to acquire all of Sky Harvest's issued and outstanding share capital, played the lead role in negotiating the terms of Sky Harvest's permit and also has acquired and reserved the funds for all pre-development work on the site, according to Keewatin.

The Crown agricultural land under permit is within the Matador Community Pasture, used by local residents for cattle grazing. Keewatin notes that it has had a study tower in the area - on private land adjacent to the Matador Pasture - for over 20 months.

"We see a significant opportunity for agricultural land to coexist with renewable energy production," says Al Syhlonyk, director of the Crown Lands branch of Saskatchewan Agriculture and Food.
