Wind gear manufacturer and service provider Moventas has appointed Dr. Niels Hammer senior vice president of technology, responsible for Moventas' research and development globally.

Moventas says Hammer has a background in technology leadership for industrial and wind gear engineering, as well as experience in manufacturing processes and engineering management.

Previously Hammer worked at Siemens AG where he was a senior consultant for engineering and management, specifically in supply chain management. Before Siemens AG, Hammer worked at Siemens Mechanical Drive, where he headed different projects for both industrial and wind gear manufacturing and design optimizations.

Effective Jan. 1, Hammer will report to Moventas President and CEO Mikael Laine and will be based in Moventas’ factory in Wuppertal, Germany, the company notes.
