This week, Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick and state policymakers visited the Hoosac Wind Power Project, a 28.5 MW wind farm being developed by Iberdrola Renewables, to get an up-close look at what it takes to build the state's newest and largest utility-scale wind farm.

The project features 19 GE 1.5 MW wind turbines - all of which were manufactured in the U.S. - and is expected to enter operation by the end of the year. When the wind farm goes online, it will contribute to a record year for wind energy installations in Massachusetts, which is on track to surpass 100 MW of installed renewable energy.

NSTAR is buying 100% of the power produced by the wind farm under a long-term power purchase agreement.
