Alignment Supplies Inc., a provider of alignment-related products for shaft and machinery alignment and measurement, has released two new measurement program apps for the company's ALiSENSOR Level geometric measurement system: Shaft Plumb and Shaft Level.

The Shaft Plumb measurement program app is designed to enable users to quickly measure vertical shaft plumbness with an angle accuracy down to 0.001 degrees, the company says. By using the VF Fixture Package with Shaft/Cylinder Adapter, the ALiSENSOR Level is mounted vertically to the shaft, and measurements are taken at 0 degrees, 90 degrees, 180 degrees and 270 degrees in rotation around the vertical shaft, Alignment Supplies explains.

The measurements can also be taken without rotating the shaft, by moving the fixture to each consecutive measurement point, the company notes. The resulting plumbness measurement can be saved and documented on a fully customizable PDF, which can also include a picture of the measurement object, taken with the built-in camera of the iPad (or iPhone or iPod Touch) display unit.

The Shaft Level measurement program app features the same ability to document and report in the field. The app is designed to allow users to quickly perform level measurements of the rotation axis of a shaft, also with an angle accuracy down to 0.001 degrees, according to the company. Measurements are also taken at 0 degrees, 90 degrees, 180 degrees and 270 degrees horizontally around the shaft, and can be taken without rotating the shaft by moving the fixture to each new measurement point.

The apps are available for free download at the Apple App Store.
